Help with Netty
Netty is local-first: your vault lives on your own devices, so most issues are settled right on the phone. If something below doesn't fix it, write to us.
PurchasesRestore a purchase
If you reinstalled Netty, switched devices, or your subscription isn't showing up after a payment went through:
- Open Settings → Restore Purchase inside Netty.
- Confirm you're signed into the same Apple ID that bought Monthly or Yearly (check in iPhone Settings → your name at the top, or Settings → App Store).
- Netty asks StoreKit to restore your entitlement — no card details or account pass through Netty's own servers, because Netty doesn't have any.
Still stuck? Email us the approximate purchase date and we'll help you track it down with Apple.
Your dataExport and import your vault
Your vault — every person, memory, and idea — can leave the device whenever you choose:
- Export: Settings → Export Backup creates a file you control (save it to Files, AirDrop it, back it up however you like).
- Import/restore: Settings → Restore from Backup reads that same file back in on this or another device.
- Netty never uploads an export on your behalf — it only leaves the device through a destination you pick.
AccessPrivacy lock (Face ID / passcode)
When app-lock is turned on, Netty asks for Face ID or your device passcode before showing your universe.
- If Face ID keeps failing, Netty falls back to your iPhone passcode automatically.
- Locked out entirely? Force-quit and reopen Netty to retry Face ID, or use the passcode fallback.
- Turn the lock on or off anytime in Settings → Privacy Lock.
DevicesLocal sync between iPhone and Mac
When the Mac app is available in the release build, Netty can keep an iPhone and a Mac in step without any cloud in between:
- Both devices must be on the same local network (same Wi-Fi).
- On the Mac app, open Settings → Devices to show a QR code (a typed pairing code is also shown as a fallback); on iPhone, open Settings → Devices and tap "Scan to pair" — it takes a photo of the code and pairs.
- Sync runs directly between your devices — Netty does not relay it through a server, and it does not work over separate networks or cellular.
- If pairing fails, confirm both devices are awake, on the same Wi-Fi, and that local network permission is granted to Netty in iPhone Settings → Privacy → Local Network.
DeletionDeleting your data
Netty is local-first, so deletion is direct and final:
- Delete specific items from inside the app (a person, a memory, an idea) at any time.
- Clear everything: Settings → Clear Local Vault removes all memories, people, and vault data from the device. This cannot be undone.
- Delete the app and its on-device vault goes with it — there is no Netty server copy to separately delete.
- Any export files you made yourself live wherever you saved them (Files, a drive, AirDrop) and are yours to delete too.
PricingPlans, in plain terms
There is no permanent free tier: your first real pass — one person, one memory, one idea — is free and shows you the whole app; adding more and asking Netty questions after that requires a subscription. Nothing you've already saved is ever hidden or deleted, on any plan.
